Artificial intelligence (AI) is related to democracy in several respects. The characteristics of the technology, the global reach of AI and the power relations in the context in which AI is developed and used are circumstances that affect democracy in different ways. This course analyses and discusses the potential of AI to strengthen democracy and the challenges to democratic values and principles of democratic governance that AI raises.
