Welcome!
Title: Many roads lead to the table: Women's differential participation in peace negotiations and their impact on peace agreements
Abstract: To break the pattern of viewing women as a homogeneous group, Lena’s project will focus on understanding the differences in women’s demands and strategies in peace negotiations, their varying positions on discussed topics, and how diversifying our understanding of women’s participation can reveal their individual or group-specific impacts. The analysis also aims to theorize how women engage, advocate, and strategize in a heavily male-dominated environment to illustrate the gendered nature of peace negotiations. Lena plans to apply a large-N statistical analysis to understand the influence of women's participation channels and positions on provisions in peace agreements. She will then conduct a comparative case study with interviews to explore the strategies and demands women use to navigate the highly masculinized environment.
